I Am Ignorant Spring loaded reset button

I guess this thread is dead now that you have it fixed and I don't know if it's the same that you're looking for but I found a fuel reset button under the glove box today while working on something else. I didn't know it was there until today.

That's a differnt one...

That's in the case of an emergency, a crash aftermath... you don't wanna mess with that. You thinkin about pushin it?

I always want to push a button when I don't know what it does:)
But I figured I better not....good thing I didn't.

You'll be okay... it just cuts off fuel supply, i think it resets it too. Now if you're driving down the street and hit he button... problems!

LOl...yah definitely do NOt touch it while driving down the road...it would be ugly! :)

You just gave me an idea for a polling... let's see if I can get it going. Thanks!

Froader, it appears there might be a button...

Good grief...
I searched google and found what I quoted, so I have no idea if there is one or not. I have a 92.

Have you tried the neg batt cable yet?

If he says his key was checked out and is good, then it can't be the key. If it were me, I'd have the computer in his truck reset, and the only way to reset the computer is to plug in from under the drivers side dash which only dealers can do or a shop that has a computer that can reset his trucks computer.

THanks :)

I have tried the cable...didnt work....

But i just tried something else...and BOda BING!!! it WORKED...I took the fuse for the PATS system out let it sit 15 mins and then IT STARTED....now i just have to hope that the theft system does not crash on me again when I am on the road .

Thanks to all of you that have helped...you gave me some pointers that eventually led in a direction that atleast got my explorer started :)

Hmmm... a secret button has been id'd by two members in another thread. I gotta grainy pic of it, but we're working on an id now... if it is the reset button, this will be a pretty major find. :cool:http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=203827

Which fuse is the PATS fuse? Is it the PATS Module listed as fuse 14 under the drivers dash? or is it 51 fuse in the engine compartment? When the theft light is flashing I can feel fuse 51 pulsating along with the light.

I had this problem had my x towed to the dealurship and all i needed was a new key mine was burned out

Another thing, too: if you have other PATS type keys on your keychain, sometimes that will confuse your vehicle and it will refuse to start.

Pushing the fuel reset button won't do anything. It resets a mechanically tripped piece inside of the switch. No trip = no effect. They've been on Crown Vics for years, especially if I'm told not to push a button, then that's all I want to do. So, I did.

(I am cruising the other thread to see this button)

Well, that could be your problem. But, as GIJoe correctly points out, that's not a factory option. That's something the dealer adds on.

So, no secret button as far as the factory, but I bet there are a lot of used vehicles that have those in them. I will add it to the list of stuff I look for when I see expys in the junkyards, as I'd really like the remote start and true theft alarm options...

oh, and any good locksmith also has the PATS programmer. Lockmedic in Lenoir City for you all here in Tennessee has one. They reprogrammed my system no problem, and they can cut and program the PATS keys cheaper than the factory...

remote start is a plus all ways
