I can't remove my fan clutch.

'94 Ranger XLT
85 ford f250 4x4 300 strt 6. We can't get the clutch fan to budge either way clock or counter. Pb blastested the h**l out of it can't move it at all got the special tools water pump is leaking. Needs replaced. Tried a hammer and sledge not going either way. Help help help
 






Hmmm, since the fan needs to come off... and your water pump is shot, you may need to replace the fan clutch and or the fan after this but, you could try to heat the center nut with a torch (carefully). Just get it good and warm the first time (not red hot). Check your book to be sure of the direction it needs to go to remove it(I can't remember). Then, while good and warm, give it a nudge in the wrong direction and immediately follow up in the proper direction. (The "nudge" is to break it loose a bit from its threads as it may have lock tight or something like that on them). Don't go all superman on the nudge though lol. It worked on our '81 a few years back.

on Saturday we finally got a friend with a torch to come over and i wanted to thank you so very much because after the heating, my husband just boom and it was loose. Now I have a clutch fan ordered and we will be putting it back on this coming Saturday. We already had a water pump and it was put in when we took it off. Now we have to wait for $ to fix my ranger.
