Ok when I broke my header flage completly from the header on a curb (Long story) my check engine light came on later on that day while I was driving it home. Ok now fast forward. I get the new header on and put everything back together. Nothing is leaking everything is all sealed up. I take the battery cable off and reset the thing. Drive around for about 2 days and it kicks on. (note this is a passangerside header 5.0 with external EGR :fire: )

I take it to autozone and they said its an EGR problem. On the code scanner and he reset it for me. I figured it would of been an O2 problem but I was wrong.

The CEL Came back on 2 days later. Same code. I don't remember what it was but said "piss on it" since the truck runs no different. Emissions are coming and I need to get this fixed. Not to mention I'm sick of the light.

What are some idea's on what I can do to make sure the EGR stuff is working right?. I Don't know much about troubleshooting it because on my stang its all internal and I've never had a prob with it.

I talked to CobraXP about it and he said he's replaced all of his EGR stuff twice and can't get rid of the codes he's getting.

What is the code(s) that you are throwing?

I'm not sure. I remember that it was "low EGR flow" or "not enough EGR Flow" something to that nature. I don't remember the numarical code.

"Flow" codes are usually set by a faulty DPFE sensor. Ford has a TSB out on them and their fix is to replace the sensor. The sensor is the small square box that has 2 hoses running to it from the EGR tube.

ok what does DPFE stand for?

I'll go pick one up at the parts store today.

Differential pressure feedback EGR

Cool. Whats the estimated repair time?

Ok scanned the ECU and Came up with code 401. Not enough exhaust flow.

Well I spent 50$ and purchased the part you mentioned.

mrboyle: IT FREAKING WORKED!!!! THANK YOU!!! YOU THE MAN! I've been staring at that freaking check engine like for almost a year now.

The other one was all gunked up and completly clogged.

It was a pain in the ass thou. I couldn't get one of the screws back in though. I think it will be fine. :)

I got the same thing but i think mine is because of the lack of EGR ;)
