I just did the reverse torison twist today, ran out of bolt, and id rather not take it completely out. Is it okay to have one bolt almost all the way out? The one side of my X has a lot more left to unscrew than the other, what the heck is goin on? It looks good though, i think i got a total 1 3/4 inch drop on each side. My rear springs are sagged enough to give it a slight lowered look. Will a less overall diameter of new tires/wheels lower it more? Should I get new shox?

I know its a lot of q's, but any help would be appreciated.

BTW: I know i need an alignment, just gotta get $$$

did you lower the back too?

how's the camber now? do the wheels look slanted?

i wish i could lower mine that easily. oh well, i'll just keep the stock height. are you going tho post some pics?

i just noticed you said something about smaller tires. you can do it but you have to adjust the speedometer to read correctly. with the smaller tires you will also get quicker acceleration, but your gas mileage will go down.
i think you should replace the shocks if they are worn, and lower the rear.

I would (did) get some blocks to lower the rear. I got mine from Exp. Expss. but guys have said you can get them at an auto parts store for less.
I went with slightly larger tires. To me the veh. looks lower if there is less room between the tire and the fender.
And, yes on the bolts. One of mine is almost out and the other isnt.
Be sure to get the allignment as soon as you get he new tires. Specs are; Camber: 0 to 5 degrees negative. Caster: Maximum possible. Toe In: 1/16".
Deffinetly get new shocks. Monroe Sensetracks or Reflex are less expensive alternatives to Edelbrocks. I've got Sensetracks and dont have any complaints.

thanks for the help, i thought i had a problem with the bolts! As for the blocks in the rear, going by measurements from the top of the tire to the fender: I have 4" on each side in the front, and 4 1/4" inches in the back. So if I got blocks for the back it would make it look lower than the front, I dont like that look. If i could get the front lower it would be okay, but i dont see that happening!
Anyways 'bout the tire diameter my total currently with the stockers is 27", what a puny size!
I was thinkin somewhere around 20" rims maybe 18"ers, but I dont think there is any way to keep the overall diameter smaller. Toyo tires has S/T's but for the 20" the smallest overall diameter for the wheel/tire is 30.4" wouldn't that mean that there would be 10" of tire, thats not exactly what I call a low-profile tire!
As for the pics Yes, I just got a scanner, so I have to get my lazy butt out and get my pics developed, comin soon!
Lastly, the wheels dont look slanted, not /\ or \/ they seem to be straight, and i will have an alignment done soon, they wont undo the reverse torsion twist, will they??

BTW rims and tires wont be comin until i get $3500 from my jetski!

Dave, are you sure on the size> The 235x75-15" are about 28.87". Mine are 29.05", not enough to throw off the speedometer. Std. is aboout 14" of tire (7" past the rim). Explr. Expss. people seem to feel that when you go above 17" wheels there isn't enough sidewall flex in the tires to give good ride quality. Not saying an X has that much to begin with. I've got 13" sidewall area.http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1738477&a=13375252&p=53077423&Sequence=0&res=high

yeah, actually my tires are closer to the 28 you mentioned, stupid me measuring my size on my drive way, which is slanted.
In that case after seeing your photos, ill definitely be gettin 20 inchers!
Ill have to find really low-profile tires that are like 8.5 or 9 inches thick.
As for ride quality, i like a firm ride, not a soft and mushy one, so thats definitely what i'm gonna do! I'm thinkin ill get the edelbrocks too, just for the extra sport feel, gotta get me some saleen parts too.
Has anybody seen pics of the carbon fiber hood, or the ground effects, besides on the saleen xp8? (I think thats the explorer)

BTW, Bill your explorer is awesome!

these r the rims im thinkin bout gettin
OmegaApache+Truck_small.JPG

definitely 20"
$659 per wheel is a bit steep though!
or
mk9.jpg

$439 per wheel

theyre both nice, but i think the second style would look nicer on an explorer.

if you want a tire with the stock diameter but for 20" rims:

265/45/20 are about the same diameter, just slightly taller and a little over an inch wider (10.4")

275/40/20 are also about the same diameter, but wider than the last one (almost 11")

255/55/20 are just about stock diameter, but a little narrower than the others (about 10")

what up everybody?
my under car light kit came in! i just started puttin it on today, man i hate wiring, i hope to finish tomorrow, anybody else have any history with liteglow kits? it seems to be really good, my buddy took some pics of my explorer the other night, ill post them in modified explorers once he gets them developed.

Most people perfer Street Glow. Their products seem to be much better quality than Lite Glow and they have a lifetime warranty. I also like the amount of light put out by the SG kit compared to the LG.

why would gas milage go down?

your tires will have to revolve more times to go the same distance. also your rpms will be higher to go the same speed.

it's kinda like switching from 3:08 gears to 4:10

higher rpm, faster acceleration, but less MPG

yeah brain freeze on my part. i forgot the higher RPM's
