I am new to this. I would like to go to duals. However, I'm told there is no room. Are there any bolt-on kits available? It kills me that they are dual most of the way back and then becomes one.

I would like a throatier sound(looking for that Mustang GT sound) and would enjoy the increased performance. Anyone have any experience? Is there any downside to this mod'? Can't afford to invest alot, but I would like to start tinkering w/ it.

Also, is there any cheap, easy upgrades to get things started.( air filters, chips, plugs, etc.)

some starter mods could be those that in the less then $300 range:
Cold air intake (MAC performance parts) - $150
Jet chip - around $200
power modual - $300
MAFS - $200
Plugs of course w/ wires (not sure how much more performance, but sounds like a good idea to me :D)
NOS - $pocketfriendly :D (don't think some systems requre ne other mods to the stock engine)

Those are a few to start...enjoy saving for the CHARGER :p (the mod of a lifetime)

There aren't any bolt on dual exhausts as far as I know, but you can buy two mufflers and take it to a welding shop and get them to weld them and the pipes on...

It can be done, there is a kid at my school that has duals on his Limited V8.

dont buy too mufflers. there is no room for 2. they will have to be mounted sideways and you will drag on everything. AND I MEAN EVERYTHING. get the flowmaster SUV has two ins and two outs. really just two mufflers in 1 case. that will work, and definatley sound like a 'stang. btw, i know about the 2 mufflers dragging cuz i did it. also, the SUV flow is cheaper than 2 regular flows, anyway.

Here is a link to the pics I just took of the dual exhaust. After you click on each individual pic, you will see that below each pic, I described everything step by step.

I have dual exhaust on my Explorer 5.0. To make them fit, the muffler guy cut off the heat shield and put them in there side-by-side.

How do the duals sound? Did you notice any change in performance, good or bad? How much did you spend for the installation?

I bought my muffler from Summit and after I paid the muffler shop to weld it in and bend some pipe and weld them on with 3 1/2" chrome tips, it was $250 total. Since I went with the 40 series like my Mustnag has, it sounds just like a Mustang. I also noticed an increase in torque and horsepower. Also with the exhaust and and cut air box my hwy mpg went from a best of 20.4 mpg to 22 mpg. This was on a long trip with the cruise set on 70 mph. You won't notice any gain in city mpg.
