I have been having problems with my back drivers side wheel. When I'm in 4 wheel drive on dry pavement and make a tight turn the wheel makes a very loud clunk noise. It feels like it is locking and then letting loose. On snow or ice it doesn't happen, unless it is just slipping. It doesn't do it in 2 wheel drive. I have had it in twice without any change. I took it to a ford dealer yesterday and the service man said its normal on dry pavement to feel like its "binding". I took a service tech out afterwards and let him experience the problem. Once he heard and felt it he confirmed it is not normal but couldn't tell me what it is. I'm taking it in on Monday and they are going to try to determine the problem. If any one has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Bill Beaupre

You shouldn't be driving in 4x4 on dry pavement, especially at full turn. That's what the drivetrain will do... This is tough to really diagnose like this, since it really does sound like what a 4x4 would do on dry pavement.
