I really don't understand. The Explorer is the most popular SUV. There are literally millions of them. So why is it that it's so hard to find performance parts or aftermarket goodies for them. They've got headlights and taillights for Subaru Brats (OK not really, but anyone remember those?). They've got cool stuff for every other SUV, but not the X. Do they think we're all soccer moms? This message board should dhow them that we're not. They (parts manufacturers) are missing out on a HUGE market. Man I hate this. :fire:

OK, just had to vent. Thanks for listening.

yah, i know whatcha mean. what exactly are you looking for right now?

im kinda glad no one makes that much for our trucks, though. im already broke, and if i found a ton of stuff i wanted, id be in big trouble ;)

Yeah maybe you could tell us what you're looking for specifically. You'll be amazed because you'll be talking to some people on here about how you can't find something and then someone will post "oh yeah, i found those", and it will be at some random site somewhere. Parts are out there, you just have to look hard.

Really... what do ya want? There IS alot out ther fer explorers... it's a matter of searching and alot of guys here have found small $hit fer their trucks
Pete

As for performance parts...i have a 5.0 and lemme tell ya...there is no end to what peroformance parts i could put on. Pretty much anything that would go on a 5 litre mustang should fit...same engine....i dunno bout the 4.0 though

4.0 stuff, compared to 5.0 stuff, is a lot more scarce, but its out there. theres plenty for the 4.0's (mostly the OHV's, but theres a market for the SOHC starting to develop.) theres also a lot of custom stuff and secrets floating around.

Oh, I'm just whining.

I pretty much have what's available for my X. I looked forever for an exhaust system for my X (I'm lazy, so I wanted one that was bolt on). I found plenty, except not for the Sport. I'm getting a custom one next week. There's no supercharger available without modification that involves fabrication of parts. Not something I can really do. I'm not looking for anything in particular at the moment, it's just that when I look, it's always hard to find stuff.

For example, I'd like to get a set of those daimond headlights, but, of corse, it's not available for the X. So if not that, I thought about a set of single to dual bulb conversion, so I could get HIDs and also have high beams. Nope. Headers. Not for the 99 OHV.

Another thing, I've been wanting to get a new hood with some nice scoops to help airflow. They've got 'em for the Chevys and the Dodges, but the only one I 've found is Troll's that they sells on their website. It's a nice hood, but I'd like some choice.

Aw hell, maybe I'll just go out and get some NOS installed tomorrow. Now where can I hide the bottle so my wife won't see it....? :nono:

I don't really mind. I like the fact that when I see a modified Explorer it is very rare. With more parts it would mean more modified Explorers and the less uncommon they would be. But that is my opinion. You may think otherwise. I just don't want Explorers to become like Chevys and Jeeps; where the majority of them have modifications.

True.

Wazzzzzup! Oh sorry, thought it was a commercial.

Anyhow, I do see your point. It does make the modified Explorer more unique. In that case I wish companies would only make parts for me. That way I'll have all the cool bits, and still be unique. Problem solved.

parts...

Unfortunately there are already more parts than I can afford.. I also find it cool that not too many X's are modified cuz when I get mine done, I will have the biggest dawg in the county.. well as far as I know..
And I hate the reaction I get when ppl find out I have an Explorer, oh you have one of "those" ... they will learn.. they will PAY!!
oh sorry... hehe..

By the way, does anyone know of any headers for a 99 OHV? Those I haven't been able to find.

Yep.

Been getting that catalog for the past 2 years. No heders.
