I need a better on road ride

Hey guys, I figure I am goign to start a thread in here instead of the suspension topic. I will probably get more answers here anyway. So I have a 99 sport SOHC 4x4, I have it lowered the approx. 2 inches, and have eldebrock IAS shocks. I want to stiffen up the suspension. I know for the fron I can just get a stiffer torsion bar, but what can I do to the rear without sacrificing the ride height? I know they have add a leafs and such, but from what I know most of the increase your ride height? I have found that my truck is very bouncy in the rear. I will be getting my new wheels with some street tires, so I know they will help ride quality, but I want to make it as good as possible. I also know of the rear sway bar, but I have heard its not really worth it on a '99 because they already beefed up the sway bars. They dont make a poly bushing kit for my truck either. Any suggestions? Hopefully this will spark a good disscussion for the street trucks forum

How did you lower your Explorer? Did you use a kit from Explorer Express or equivalent? You might want to try different shocks. I have heard that the IAS shocks are a little soft, so you might try KYB or Koni - just a thought, I haven't tried them.

Lowering Kit info

Hey Explorers! I notice some of you guy have the Explorer Express Lowering Kit. My question are to all of you guy who have them. I know for the fact that the kit ( blocks U-Bolts, front camber adjusters) run nearly whopping $170.00 (4-door) I understand about all business really do want to make some $$$, but really sounds way over too priced. I'll buy pretty much everything that top of the line and all. But lets say if I go to a local parts store and purchase the lowering blocks (including U-Bolts) which are from what I've seen were from $15-25. As I looked in the Explorer Express catalog on the lowering kit for 2 doors which only lowers the front at the price nearly $85(camber kits only?)..I thinking they charge another $85 for blocks for the 4 doors model which lowers the back. Explorer Express Blocks are really close to 2- inches ( 1 3/8) which is so close to the 2-inch kits in local parts store I haven't check the price for camber kits yet, but am assuming like $30-70 I guess. Now tell me guys...is this kit really do magic on the truck really or am I just doing too much homework here????? Please help me out.

I lowered my truck without the kit. I heard that saleen does it the same what that I did it. WHat I did was, there is already a spacer on my truck above the axle. SO all I did was put that spacer between the axle and the leaf spring. The spacer is the exact size of the lowering kits spacers. For the front I just cranked down the torsion bars, and got a alignment and they put the camber adjusters on for me. All together it cost me aobut 60 bucks.
I have had it lowered for over 12,000 miles and no problems at all.

Ps This is on a '99 sport. I dont know what the setup would be on earlier model trucks.

I noticed in your truck description, you have listed a k&n fipk. Is that the same as the stock air box filter? or did you get a conical in there?
I have the k&n (air box) panel filter in there, but was thinking of ditching it for a conical or something. Any advice is appreciated.

oh, my truck is a '99 Sport with the Borla cat back, and panel k&n.
