 OK here is the problem ... I just done a transfer case change and I have it all hooked up and have driven it and its all working, but my O/D off light keeps blinking now and I can't find the speed sensor cable that hooks into the case ... I looked everywhere and I felt over/under and around the gas tank and tranny because I don't remember where it came in from and its nowhere to be found ... I done it in a 3 day period because I had to work on it in between work and it seems like I may have conveniently tucked it away somewhere, but I don't remember where ... could someone please ASAP tell me where it comes from so I can trace it back ? its a 96 Ex. with an auto tranny ... thank you !!

The VSS wire (not a cable) connector is in the trans harness. It is separate from the control trac harness that comes threw the floor, that the shift motor plugs into. Look on the drivers side of the transmission, find the harness, and follow it back to the t-case. It attaches to the upper bolt (via a ring) on the t-case, before it goes to the VSS.

I have the electrical connector hooked up, its the one that has the circular opening with all of the splines around the edges VSS ? ... anyways when I first drove it last night I had changed the tranny filter/fluid/gasket too and it was acting funny ... I pulled out ok, but when I put it in 4 lo it just kinda set there a min ... then finally went .... it wouldn't shift out of 1st and I went around the curve and put it in 2wd ... drove a short way, then put it back in 4 low and it shifted this time ... but when I lokked under it the sensor that has the geared spindle had broken on the transfer case and fluid was coming out a lil .... I am going to go out today and take the sensor from the old unit and replace it ... I just hope nothing fell into my case .... its still blinking the O/D off light on the dash and my speedo still isn't working ?

ok the sensor was broken , I took the one from the other case and switched it and now alls working fine ... however I still haven't located my speedometer cable ... any help would be greatly appreciated ... RSM

Like gmanpaint said... there is no speedometer cable. That sensor you just swapped is what controls the speedometer.

Appologies ... you are correct ... after I drove it all is working great !! ... sorry for the confusion ... that'd explain why I couldn't find the speedo cable eh ? lol ... anyways I am certain all is tight, sealed and filled with fresh fluid and working 100%, but it now has a small whining sound when in 4wd and and a very slight shaking feeling ... almost like an unbalanced tire ... very minor even at 80 mph its not bad at all , just noticeable ... any ideas what this may be ? ... RSM

you know the lead balance on the side of the rim used to keep you're tire in balance with the valve stem on the other side. Its just a slight wobble feeling.
