There are quite a few threads on this matter. If you want cheap go with a 95-97 Ranger body lift that's 3 inches there and do a torsion twist and shackles that adds 1 1/2-2inches suspension. Then you can fit 33's but still may require some fender trimming.

Welcome To The Forum!

Use the search button is works great. most guys get 5in of lift by doing a 3 in bl part number is pa-883 from performance accesories. They also do a 2 in torsion twist and shackles. shackles can be made or bought from warrior. so this gives you 5in of lift for under 500 dollars. By the way welcome to the site.

He has a 97 so he needs the 95-97 ranger body lift as the steering shaft is different from the 883.

is there a huge difference from doing a body lift and torsion compared to a suspension lift? as far as performance goes?

Well performance wise....The body lift and torsion will give you better clearance for bigger tires but with the bl you of course won't have as much clearance between frame and ground as what you would with the suspension lift but with the suspension lift the t-bars drop down and still minimize the ground clearance but you can also do a coil over conversion to get rid of the t-bars then have better clearance between frame and ground. But you if you look at Gjarretts and blackhole their explorers have cheapish lifts done to them and do well off road.

hey glen thanks for the correction didnt figure that one in lol im about to put a 883 on mine soon cant wait to run 33s and be able to clear them

Here's another example but mine's a sport...

how much did you cut to clear 35s and how bad does it rub and i know the sports have a little larger wheel well

and glenn im trying to not use the sawsall unless its for 35s lol but for now i have to keep it atleast a little good on gas lol

Yea, I'm going back to 33's.... the 35's I didn't have to trim bad once I got the BL, but that's b/c it's a sport... go 33's if you're not going to try and flew it aton... otherwise get like 31-32's, you'll be able to stuff them up in the fenderwells better... I've stuffed the 35's... it looks sweet but just doesn't go as far as you would hope it too...
AND The 35's just suck on gas...

thanks for the info i figure 33s and a locker all i have to worry about is getting high centered then i will have a winch for that lol
