I am adding these flex LED's to my tail gate in order to see better behind me....I have no idea how to wire these things in. I get the splicing part and how to connect the wires. But I have no idea what wires. I have 4 loose wires for the trailer lights...Do I wire them there??? I am so confused....so not as easy as the directions say.....

I'm confused as to what kind of lights they are. Are they like the LED Tailgate bar? Because if so they just plug right into the trailer plug. Like This?

But they kinda sound like puddle lights or something along those lines? You could splice right into the reverse light on one of your rear lights so they turn on when you back up...

But you have four wires so it sounds like it would be better with the trailer plug... Take a picture of what you got. If you want them on a switch a power line needs to go to the switch to the lights. A power line needs to go from a source, like the battery for example, then to the light, and then ground the switch and the LED's.

I dont want them on a toggle until i have the bezel in my truck exchanged.

the LED strip only has 2 wires on it a black and white one...

I wish they plugged right in! SO....which one of those wires do I splice so I get my lights?????

So I guess I just splice the black ground wire and combine one of the led strip wires. Then splice and attach the other wire to the brown wire. It will effectively be just another running light.

None of the wires in a 4 way trailer connecter have steady power, which if you want to be able to flip the LEDs on whenever you want you need steady power. Are you trying to have them wired to the reverse lights or manually switch them on?

reverse light. I guess. I thought there was a running light wire....

Well now I am screwed into $40.00 already lol I thought I could just splice the wires and connect them in...grr. This is more involved than I wanted.

For them to just come on in reverse you can tap into the reverse light wire that's in the bedside cavity. You could access it behind the 12V outlet or pull out the tailight assembly and tap into there. Then run a ground and youre done.

Heres what the different wires are for a 4 pin harness.
If you really wanted you could start wiring for a 7 pin harness like I did while you are splicing into the reverse lights. But thats a whole 'nother project lol

If you wanna have them come on with the reverse lights just splice them into the reverse lights. Pretty straight forward as far as which wires are which for the reverse lights.

Okay so....The led strips only consist of two wires. is it possible to split one wire into multiple???

There should only be two wires for the backup lights, one hot, one ground. Splice the wires right into them.

Y'all have me confused as to what kind of light MyTrac is adding. Reverse lights (white) or Line of Fire (red) lighting.......... Post a link maybe to the light you have???

Just as a geuss since their flexible l.e.d.strips I'd have to geuss the auto store specials in the G-Ride section. I've looked at those for added lights on mine (not for me to see better but for other to see my truck better at night since its all black but I think I'll just add some reflective strips to the back bumper like I have on the front.

OK so they are autozone LED flex light strips. I have the wires stripped and connected. No lights on the led strip light up. I have the brown and the white connected like I want. But nothing :( I have tried trial and error and they dont seem to want to turn on....

Do you have a meter by chance?

did you bench test it? the color wire the instructions indicate to be positive place on the positive battery terminal and the other to negative they should light up. did this originally have a cigarette plug on it?
