Explorer Sport Trac 2001
hello, im trying to help a family member buy a replacement cd player for his 2001 sportrac. i'm not sure which size cd player would fit, and how to (if possible) avoid buying a kit for it. would be Great if i could find one for cheap and with a relatively easy hookup that i would do myself. i tried searching the site and couldn't find, and hope this is in the right section. (if anyone can also direct me to a cheap one with a single cd, that can save fm preset stations, and maybe even play mp3 songs burned on the disk i would Reeally appreciate it) but main thing is i need to know the size of the audi unit. Thanks in advance.

You will need a dash kit and wire harness with that truck. I also recommend going to a wallmart or an auto parts store and buying the ford radio removal tools. They are a "U" shapped tool upi push into the 2 holes on each side of the radio and it removes the radio

If you're putting in a non-factory replacement, you're going to want to pull the bezel anyway to give yourself more room to fit the kit/work- save the money from the removal kit and use it towards your harness. :)

Remove the 2 bolts above the HVAC controls and pull the bezel off with the radio, then you can remove the radio by pushing the clips behind the face of the bezel and pushing the radio out the front. It's painfully evident when you get the bezel off what to do, but it'll save you from buying the removal tools, since you'll not use them again after you remove your factory radio.
