My'99 Explorer started making a slight grinding sound whether the brakes or gas were being applied or not. Then it started to make a loud cluncking noise only when accelerating, and now it makes a clunking noise constantly when the vehicle is moving faster than 5mph. It will especially make the noise louder and more rapidly on tight turns. This progression happened over about 4 days. It drives fine otherwise. Trans feels tight. I can fix alota stuff but this is something I'm not familiar with. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!!!

Clunking noise is probably front driveshaft concern if 4wd/awd. Very common problem on acceleration.

Thanks! I'll look into that. I hope I can fix it myself.

kinda sounds like a wheel hub, is your abs light on? try jacking up the front end and grabbing the tire by the top and bottom see if it moves in and out.

I would lean towards the hub bearings from your description.
