HELP! I've got coolant steam coming

through the vents when the fan is off. My temp gauge is vascilating pretty bad also. Any suggestions??? I don't know how dangerous this steam is, but I'm guessing it's not all that great to breath in. Thanks.

Heater core comes to mind:(

Is the windshield greasy/oily w/ a film on it ? Sounds like the heater core .. Easy 20 minute change ...

Thanks, is there an online DIY instruction

set to walk me through this? If so, I'll do it tonight. Thanks.

Cheap and easy fix:D

1 - Under Hood locate the Heater Core Inlet/Return hoses ( on passenger side of firewall ) Remove both hoses and plug lines on hoses...

2 - Place rag/towel on passenger floor. Then under passenger dash area there will be 3-4 screws on a plastic cover. Remove them ...

3 - Pull Heater Core to you and then down to remove.

Install is the reverse of removal, and remember to check the coolant level when done ...

Install is the reverse of removal

I've read the HAYNES manual TOOO MANY TIMES !!!!

AWESOME! Thanks, I'll give it a shot at lunch.

Thanks everyone!

It's pretty easy. If you don't have a manual (I'm assuming you don't, because even the most basic Hayne's/Chiltons has instructions for replacing a heater core), try the repair guides at www.autozone.com (equivalent of a Chilton's manual). Somebody once posted a link to another free online version of Chilton's, but I don't have the link (I think it was www.cyberpartspro.com /something or another).
In a nutshell, unbolt the heater core housing under the dash, remove the hoses, pull heater core out, put new heater core in and reassemble everything.

The two threads were combined.

Please don't double post.

Thank you..
