I need some help thats 5.0 related but not explorer

I've been posting on corral.net and i havn't got jack for responses...

my 90 stang has a race underdrive crank pully on it....I go to put on my new ballancer and i can't get the bolts off....the jackass that owned the car before used the stock ones...how they got in...I have no clue...

i've tried open/closed end wrench...can't turn it....crow foot...can't turn it....torx bit for hell of it...dosn't work.....thin wall 12 point socket wont' go around it (pictures show why)

my only options i see is to Dremel a slot in each one and use my screw driver socket and breaker bar to get them of...or cut the heads off the bolts with the dremel and back the bolts out.....or cut the pully off with the dremel....

hey, you can cut the head off then just drill a pilot hole in the bolt and you an easy-out. you know anything about easy outs? the person that owned the car before wasnt think about problems further down the road. i hope this might be of some help to you

Sweet...there's one vote for cutting the bolt head off....

I do have an easy out set....its a reverse drill bit that grabs the bolt...right??..

anyone else?....

the sad thing is that I posted this back on corral like 3 months ago and never got a reply...posted twice today with pics and nothing....i post on here for 30 min and get a response.....I LOVE YOU GUY's!! (in a manish beer drinking way)

Are you eliminating the old dampener/ ballancer, or do you plan to reuse it? If it is not going to be reused, I'd drill off the bolt heads and remove the pulley. If you have access to one, a drill press would be the best way to do this (or a Bridgeport mill). i wouldn't recomend ysing the dremell as it is to hard to control and you might end up gouging the pulley.

you got it. thats what a easy out dose, let us know what happens. hey the reason why you got a reply here is because we all do this stuff sometime or another

ok...I'm actualy putting on a new chrome one....SFI rated for 12,500 rpms and my oem one is shot.....

Wow i just realized that I won't even need to use an easy out because i'm gona toss that OEM one.....

all I need to find now is some Allen head bolts and get a damper puller rented and i can do it all

Anyone got idea's where to get thoes allen bolts??

When I did my balancer pulley on my stang it happened to come with those allen bolts. However...they were too short??? I had good luck getting the bolts at a Lowes home improvement store. They had a good selection or all sizes of allen bolts. I raced with that pulley and bolts for 2 years with no problems. I know the best bolts would be from ARP through Summit Racing.
I hit the Corral a few times but spent most of my time (4 years) over at www.stangnet.com Have you tried them out? Just some ideas for you. Good luck!

ps: dang...I sure miss my stang, but driving the X is so much more comfortable.
