I need some help -

I have a 1991 Ford Explorer that makes a tapping noise when the truck is running. I've been told it's a lifter. Now, here's my question......how extensive is this type of fix and is it a pricey fix?

I have the same issue

When i start my 94 Explorer it ticks kinda loud but after it runs for a couple minuites the tick gets quiet. The tick still exists when the engine gets up to operating temperature but it's not too bad. I used to run lucas e.t. and 10w30 synthetic to calm the tick but it actually made it worse. Now I run 5w30 maxlife synthetic and a pure one purolater oil filter as usual. I would try a high mileage synthetic if you do not want to fix the tick but if you do i think you have to overhaul the cylnder heads. hope this helps, Steve
