I was thinking about putting some 2.5 ton Rockwell’s on my 94 explorer XLT and I was wondering how much work/ money it would be to put some on, or if they would even fit

sorry

Mental_help, be prepared to spend a minimum of $2,000 for a set of Rockwell axles and then another $1500-2000 on the installation of those axles.. I'd suggest reading up on SAS swaps and determine what your budget is in the near future and what you want. Obviously your still in high school, you should hold off until your in your late 20s before attempting this. This will be a benefit to you and many other people.

read burns' thread.

Id say its about as hard as installing a new exaust system.

it will cost you almost 8000 and you will barely get buy....i have a few house of research into this idea....hey you may be able to get full foot nothces truck...

you do realize thats like saying a sas can only be done for more than 3k? Prices are totally variable depending on what you have, what you know, and what you want.

Mines looking to come in around 2k :D

Not adding anything, but saying "at least 8000 and you'll barely get by" is totally dependent on the person. You never know how well someone can use the "good ol' boy" network to get free parts, help, and beer :D I have actually worked for parts, driven tires around the state etc and gotten many many many parts in return, all depends on if you're in the right place at the right time.

Having said that...i couldn't put a set of rockwells under my truck for the same price as my d44/9", not even close ;)

mine is around $500.00 yes five hundred. free dana 60 on leafs.

I know this is a old thread but i got bored and was looking through my old threads and i noticed this post. I was just wondering where you saying i should hold off on all mods till i am in my 20s or just this one?

he's saying something that major. Putting an air intake on is one thing, but doing something like an SAS, is a totally custom thing, everyone's install is different, there are no set directions. It takes a lot of knowledge, and usually a lot of money to buy all the parts you didn't even realize you would need. Right now your much better off saving your money for college. I sure wish I had done that when I was in high school instead of wasting it on stuff I didn't really need.

skills, time, money, space, another ride for a month

he did not say ALL Mods he said THIS mod.

This would be such a big project that you would prob never get done. I dont know where the thread is but i have most of the cost broke down for a set of rockwells for a explorer. That is not street legal. If you want 2.5 ton axles and keep it on the street you are looking at around 10k. Rockwells are out of your grasp. Im trying to say that you need more experience when even starting to look into a set of 2.5 ton axles.

yeah i relized that
