I have an 01 sport trac 2wd...

I need rancho shock part numbers for a lifted trac of 1.5-2.0 inches -- both rear and front.

I need part numbers for body lift kit -- cheapest one can find.

OH and I was wondering if a flowmaster 40 with the cheese holed airbox sounds good. I know I can find a flowmaster haha.

I can't seem to find numbers for the ones above the flowmaster.

Rancho site with your truck info punched in...

Google search page for ST body lift with multiple vendors and prices...

As for the Flowmaster they sound like poop on a ST, JMO. I've had one on mine with dual 2.5" tailpipes and there was way too much drone, couldn't here myself think. I now have a MagnaFlow with dual 2.5" tailpipes, SO much better. I also have a Randomn tech pre-cat delete stainless steel y-pipe and high flow cat which was probably to of the best "pricey" investments I've made into my Trac but my cat and pre-cat were destroyed so I had to replace anyway.

For the air box I would simply get a K&N stock style filter and put it in the air box and leave the air silencer/ induction tube on. You live in the north and probably go through as much mud/snow drifts/ puddles/ etc.. as possible being in Mi., right? Protect your intake from the elements, speaking from experience from other vehicles I've had and this one. Again, JMO.

Lol Might have to get a new airbox then....took out the silencer (DOH!) I love blowing through puddles :( anywhoo I will probs go with a magnaflow then and find some exhaust piping (2.5in). I also want to do a project....weld a guard together and mount lights on it. then do a bezel swap and add a second button for those lights. Idk...I have renewed want to do some projects lol

You won't need lifted shocks. Love my Rancho RS5000s.

Agree with Rebel about the FM40. MagnaFlow, Dynomax SuperTurbo and Spintech seem to be the most popular for our trucks.

110% agree about the air filter/air box. I just shake my head every time I see someone put a shotgun blast to their air box. As useful as this forum and the internet is, don't believe everything you read. Ford engineers are very smart people and know what makes your engine the most efficient and reliable. The stock air filters are even pretty good. I go with K&N for their life, not performance as I doubt there was an appreciable gain in power or efficiency.

IMO, 2.5" is too big a pipe for the 4.0. That's about as big as I'm considering for my 351 (5.8L) Cougar. Backpressure is a good thing.

Instead of tubing I want to do square steel piece 'rods?' One square rectangle with two rectangular angled pieces to the side. The square pieces seem like a stronger option than circular tubes. Still kinda working on the design, but its a rough idea.

I thought I would go with 2.25 originally...Are those options cheaper than flowmasters??

I paid $40 for my Dynomax. Not sure about the others.

And actually, tube is stronger than squared. No other shape is actually stronger than the circle and spreads out forces upon it better. For example, why aren't axles made of square tube instead of round? You would have to go with a much thicker, heavier gauge square to get the same strength of a much thinner round tube. Dollar for dollar, pound for pound, and for strength, go round tube.

Dynomax pretty good? Havent heard the sound they put out of the 4.0's

I have a video in a couple places. One of them is the 4.0 Exhaust Sound Clip thread. I recently deleted the resonator and it has a deeper sound. I was happy with both. No resonator is a bit deeper, though.

BTW, I edited my previous post to include info about the guard.

hey thanks for that wisdom! I wouldve never known that haha. So how would you design yours if you could make one? The only problem I see is bending the steel for the shape I need. I can always rent a welder

I'm not sure but it would have to follow the body lines pretty close for my taste. Everyone is different, though. Check out the custom bumpers thread for inspiration. Many of them are little more than light bars anyway. One of the simplest and best looking light bars that sticks in my mind is the single tube style. Quick Google search, but something like this would be easy to make and looks good:

Also, a worthwhile tool investment in my mind, and I got one last year is a tube bender from HF. Cheap but it's just a tube bender and will help me learn how to get better at working with tube. Only used it once so far, but I've got a few projects in mind that made it worth $100.

dude thats pretty sweet haha. I just want something for small fender benders. I keep getting hit in parking lots and on the road. I have so much body work to do bc of people. lol its so annoying.

Hmm, I don't know about that. I'd check that custom bumper thread for something you think would work and is something you could build with your skills and budget. Most of them are outside of my budget AND skill level, lol.

Oh I have no skill at all. However, If I could at least get the materials and get a design down, I could have a local dude weld one up for cheap haha

Honestly the best way to get skills of these metals working trades is by simply doing. I didn't know how to weld before I did any of my bumpers, exhaust, skid plate, etc... But I bought the HF 90 amp flux core welder for $89 and have been using the hell out of it, I did use the Miller 212 gas welder at work to weld up the thicker 3/8" steel parts of my bumper (just to get a deeper burn into the metals) but the HF welder is more then capable for what you wanna do. There's always a $89 coupon in any car/truck mag for the welder and just remember to get the 2 year extended warranty just incase. I also use Lincoln or any other name brand .35" wire, the Chicago/ HF wire doesn't work too well. Jmo. If you're getting hit a lot I wouldn't add a lightbar to the front, it'll just get damaged along with the lights. I'd put the lights behind the grille instead.

Hey thanks for the advice!! :) I was thinking about doing em behind the grille. I just have to find the lights haha

ive got the magnaflows on my ST. they sound pretty good, they arent annoyingly loud, but can give a good grumble when you punch the RPMs over 3k. if you are looking for a head turner, try something else. good luck and let us know what you come up with.

Thinking about single in dual out for the magnaflow (2.25 in pipes). I am still working to try and figure out a simple yet easy design for a push bar or grille guard.
