I ordered a remanufactured 4R44E transmission, and it's not the same as my old one.

I have a 99 ranger. I ordered a reman 4r44e but its a little different than the one I took out. the bell housing is 1/2 in shorter and it has a sensor on the back end top that mine doesn't. what is the sensor? should I swap housing or send it back?

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your post, and moved it into its own thread. Check the tags. They might have given you a 5R55E transmission. Contact the place which sold it to you.

I put it in, and had a clicking sound almost sounded like I was dragging a tie down strap. I think it was coming from the torque converter. it seems to have stopped now though. It slips a little between 1rst & 2nd still, but its only got 85miles on it
