I think I'm ready to lower the X...please help

the camber adjusters are around $15-$25 at any alignment shop. for $120, they are flat-out trying to screw you. dont use them. EE charges around $40, and THAT is too expensive. just go somewere else.

FYI- if you dont get it aligned immediatly, you will set in a "wear pattern" on your front tires. even if you drive it for a few weeks with it off, they will never be right again. ask me how i know...:banghead:

The quote I got was for parts and installation. I'm going to call some other places today and try to find somewhere cheaper, I have a friend that works at TiresPlus, so I might be able to get a slight discount from him.

BTW, BlackMagic...why do you think I only get a 1.5 inch drop but you got near a 3 inch drop by adjusting the torsion bolts. I know every explorer is different, but I've been kinda wondering why mine doesn't go any lower. I think that if I unscrew my bolts any more, they are just going to come right out. Maybe it has to do with mine being 2wd, or maybe because mine only has 4000 miles on it, I don't know?

Oh, and thanks for the write up on lowering your Explorer, it has been very helpful so far!

Take the bolts out if you want more of a drop.

And that won't hurt anything. Or make anything too loose?

I ran with mine out for a while.

Okay, now I'm kinda pissed. I went to get the allignment checked while on lunch break today at Kaufmann Tire. I decided I wanted to at least check it to see where I stand right now....

Well the guy comes out of the shop and says "your wheels have a very large lip on them, and our machine can't fit over it, plus you have 20" wheels which makes it very hard to find machines to allign them."

Then he recommended going to Butler Tire because they specialize in bigger wheels, but they charge a whole lot more.

Now I just want to know where I can go to get this done, I know its not uncommon these days to have 20" wheels, so somebody has to be able to do it.

Oh well....just my luck with shops....as you all know....back to work after I wasted my entire lunch break because of them

You all should have warned me ;)

Its actually addicting, I can't ever be happy with stock, always want to be different than everybody else.

Oh well, I'm just a big kid with bigger toys :D

I have a 98 EB. Can you use lowering blocks on the back even if you have air shocks? I actually have air shocks on the front and back. can I still lower the truck?

Putting blocks in the back only changes the height of the axle so it should not matter that you have air ride. I dont know about the front.

Thanks. What kind of airdam do you have on you X? I was thinking about getting one.

Was it worth the cost? How much work did you have to do to get it on? Any drilling?

no drilling. it just bolts up to the stock holes. It came in very poor condition tho and needed glass work before painting it.

Were you able to keep the stock fog lights? Did you put round ones next to them?

That airdam is designed to have PIAA Pro90's in it. You can keep the stock ones if you want. Expo5.0 still has the stock ones with smaller ones next to them. It doesnt look bad.
