I wanna shut the door open chime up..HELP MEEEE

Hi guys, on my 2000/01 XLT it has the stupid door open chime.. is there a wire that I can cut to shut it up without losing my interior light??

What if you just glued the switch closed or put tape over it?

My Explorer is not here, but I'll try from memory. Look under your dash about even with the hood release. There is a brown plug there with 3 wires (I think). Seems like the wire was brown I removed and the door chime stopped. Use a test light while you lay there and you will find it. When you do, cut that wire and tap it off.

i had a friend who his door chime out of his olds....he left his lights on alll the time after that and had to get jumped at school.....i'd drop a switch in there if i was you

door chime 99% fix

give a few shots of wd-40 into the door switch. and work it with your finger a few times, and shoot it again. they are sensitive to dust and stick in the open position once in awhile.
i had this happen, and the wd worked and the chimes only chimed when they were supposed to. still working correctly after a year.
your right, those chimes drive you insane!!!
