I want to get a Kenwood KDC-X969 for my Explorer Limited Here are the stereo specs

It says it will support dual mode, so i can still have front and rear controls. Is this not correct??

What i am wondering though is, will i still be able to use the steering wheel controls if i use this stereo. I would like to be able to, if that is not possible i understand. Will it bother my Temperature controls on the steering wheel if they disable the volume controls on it??

The reason i am wanting this stereo is that i have a Music Keg which holds around 3,000 songs. And i want to be able to use it. I can only use it with a kenwood deck.

Thanks for your help I am new to this, and i LOVE my Explorer

Jeff

Hey man,

I'm am FAIRLY sure that the "Dual Zone Mode" does NOT mean you can still use the rear controls. And your steering wheel controls will be inoperatable also.

The CD player does come with a remote that attaches to your steering wheel though.

I like that CD player though! Hope you enjoy it.

Sorry I couldn't help you more,

Kendal

You can buy an adapter to run your steering wheel controls and rear controls, but they are kind of expensive. It shouldn't affect your climate controls in any way. Also, I know you can buy a RF modulater for your music keg so you don't have to get a new deck. And if you buy a modulater, you wouldn't have to worry about changing steering wheel controls.

obviously i had nothing additional to offer to this thread, i'll crawl back into the hole i came from

judging by the product manual the rear controls will be useless. I'm sure somebody out there makes an adapter that does it, but it'd prolly be expensive. What the dual zone looks like it's for is having a PS2 or DVD or whatever hooked up to it and playing it through the rear speakers/channels while allowing for another source to be played in the front channels. I've never personally understood the reason for rear controls (besides to aggrivate my buddy while riding in the backseat). As for the steering wheel remotes/controls i understand there is an adapter made, but it's $$$.... IMHO if you just want it to run the Music keg i'd get the modulator that Kenwood makes, I know last month the modulator came with a free sirius tuner as well for like 69 bucks and the unit is pretty nice. I've got it installed in my wife's blazer controlling the sirius unit.

Hmmmmm....this sounds familiar?!?!:D :p :D
