For awhile now I have experienced rough idle with the Ex. The problem is vastly more predominant in the morning when the car is cold. I realize that it could be the dreaded intake gaskets, (yes I got the P0171 and P0174 codes) but I am going slowly and trying to eliminate other possible causes. To this end I cleaned the MAF and the IAC. When I was cleaning the IAC I noticed that the valve between the two chambers was not fully closed. I could easily move the plunger so I don't think it's a binding issue. So the question I have is - with the IAC off the car, would that be a normal position for the valve, or should it have been fully closed, which may mean that I need a new IAC?
