When I start my 99 Explorer Sport and it's ideling, it sounds as if the engine is about to stall, then it revs up, then sounds like it's going to stall again. It never stalls, but I'm guessing this can't be good for the engine. Does anyone know what the problem may be?

Its either the TPS or the idle air control valve:D But it sounds more like TPS its a relativley cheap part

Do you have the SOHC? It sounds to me like it could be the infamous intake manifold o-rings.

Do a search for 00M12 and then take it to Ford and let them fix it for free (unless you have more than 72K miles).

Is it on the first start of the day, or everytime? If its the first start of the day, then its the intake gaskets. Just had mine fixed, made a world of difference
