idle air control... again...

This might be the dumbest question of the day.

If you unplug the IAC while the vehicle is idling, should the engine quit? I was tinkering around under the hood today, and decided to try this. Well, the engine did in fact quit. I could have sworn I've read about people driving around with the IAC unplugged...
 






No the engine should idle at about 500 rpm with the IAC unplugged.

It's a pretty common thing to happen. If your truck dies w/IAC unplugged then you should re-calibrate your throttle body/throttle position sensor until it stays running.
