Hello all~
I've got a 1994 XL 4.0L OHV explorer here, 4 door 2 wheel drive 5 speed manual trans. Still have the high idle when warmed up problem. I did gather one more piece of the puzzle. I just so happened to run to burger king while on my lunch break at work and while I was waiting at the window it was idling fine at about 700. Then I heard a very faint tick and it was idling at 900 again. And NO, IT IS NOT MY COMPRESSOR KICKING ON... that is a very pronounced click and I had the radio off, window open and I heard a small 'tick' right before the idle went up. I am thinking possibly a voltage regulator? My charging voltage is about 14.8 volts, but my gauge is reading on the high side of normal. Not sure.... the idle problem still haunts me. It used to idle at 700 perfectly all the time, now once it's hot it idles fast. ::sigh::
Also, I wonder if sea-foaming it may help?
