2003 Explorer XLS
I have a 2003 Explorer XLS that has aquired a problem with the Ignition switch on the steering column.

It started with the bell "dinging" going off even after you remove the key from the ignition. Now, there is increased resistance when you turn the key to start it (it feels like it is rubbing or dragging on something).

Has anyone else had experience with this and is it difficult to replace the ignition switch? Or do I have to have a locksmith replace the part?

you try try spraying some lubricant in it or pop off the steering wheel to see whats going on back there. As far as replacement goes, i think it has to be done by a dealer because of the PATS system, not sure though. The part itself is about $50 - $60.
