'93 XLT
So, 2 months after sending the '93 XL to the scrap heap we go to Home Depot for some plywood. I have them cut 4 sheets in half to 4X4 thinking that they should fit in the wife's new CRV. Well turns out they won't fit in without leaving the rear hatch open slightly. Glad it was a short drive home.
I convinced the Mrs. that another Exloder or a Ranger type p/u would be a good investment so as not to trash the Honda wedging stuff in. No roof rack on the Honda either:(.
I checked the buy/sell/trade and found a couple of 92's in the $1,500 to $2,800 range and looked at one, nice but a bit pricey. So I went to the auction about an hour from here Saturday and picked up a rust free 2 tone grey XLT for (drumroll please) about $800 including taxes and fees :D. It only needed shocks, installed today and everything else except the rear door inside release (no not the child lock things, that would be easy) works like a hot damn. The cruise is unwavering and the air blows cold and all the power doodads still work. The 4X4 works in hi and low and it seems to be pretty good on gas too:thumbsup:. I cleaned it up at work, autobody repair shop, and it looks great. I'll post some pics when I get a chance to take some.

welcome

That sounds like a good deal. Pictures would be nice for everybody to see when you get a chance. How many miles does it have?

Little over 166K, so not a huge amount roughly 10K for each year of it's life. I checked out underneath when it was on the hoist yesterday and the floor and chassis are remarkably clean and the skid plates show no signs of being abused. I also picked up a pair of bucket seats from the recyclers ($50 for the pair) from an '01 Sport which I took to the detailer for cleaning so I'll be installing those this weekend. I'll change the power track to the manual, no pigtail to run the power seat on the 'sploder, but the buckets are grey like the interior and have manual recline and lumbar support:thumbsup: which should make for a much improved feeling in my lower back. The split bench is pretty much wore out. Osteoarthritis is such a nuisance. I'll see about getting some pics up Sunday.
