Alright, this rig will be purely for off-roading and basically just messing aroud with at my friend's house. (They have a lot of land). We will most likely be chopping off some of the roof. We want to put a pair of 35's on we got for free from a friend's truck when he got new tires. My question is will they fit with a 3in body lift and us hacking the sh*t out of the fenders. Could the 35's fit without the 3in body lift if we cut the sh*t out of the fenders even more? It doesn't need to look pretty.

Oh, and any other suggestions for stuff to do that would make it more capable offroading (very cheap stuff)

Well if your not going 4x4 get a locker in the rear

I'd highly recommend going 4x4 if you plan on doing anything that's halfway difficult. If you don't want to though, go with a rear locker. Just for reference, a guy on here (j602) has a 2wd Explorer with about 8" of lift and 35s. I believe that he has done a little bit of trimming to the inner fender wells to fit them. I doubt you can fit these tires with only a 3" body lift and still have any visible fender left. :D

Yea, this will mainly be screwing around with on my friends land (nothing really difficult, just some gravel trails and stuff. There's a ton of dirtbike trails that branch off, but this is mainly just for messing around and having fin with. It will never be driven on the road and we really don't care what it looks like so we're willing to cut whatever neccesary.

The thing is already in pretty rough condition... cracked windshield, left passenger door doesn't shut and flys open on turns, seats are ripped, radio is ripped out, etc. So we'll be taking the doors off most likely and maybe chopping the roof.

Weld the spider gears in the rear solid. This is a free locker for non street driven trucks. Now you said a PAIR of 35's. Are we talking a set of 4 or just 2? WIth a 3 inch body lift I cleared 35's with trimmed perrys fenders. It was TIGHT though.

If for some reason you go with some smaller tires 32s or 33s, let me know what you're doing with the 35" TSL's. I'll be looking for something around that size pretty soon and you're not too far away. (I'm in Lawrenceville, GA) :)

You probabaly wouldn't want them they're pretty worn. We're only using them cause they're free.

i have a 2wd Explorer with 31s, 3" body lift and no trimming. there is plenty of room could fit 33's if i wanted to. The only thing is its so high geared that 33's would prolly destroy the transmission. So even if you get the 35's on i don't think it will pull out of its on track with out a gear swap.
