Hello everyone,

To start off I have a 2004 EX EB 4x4 with 4.6L.
I absolutely love it and as I said I am new to this whole thing and trying to learn some stuff. The first mod I want to do is space the wheels so they are just a little outside the fenders. Also maybe want to get it lifted just a little (not much). So that leads me to my question. I know that I need "wheel spacers" to make them stick out past the fenders, but what size and brand would someone recommend?
Second what is the difference in a "body lift" and a "spacer lift"? I cant seem to find a clear answer anywhere. Like I said I maybe only want to go up just a little but I definitely want to go out some.
Thanks for all the help and I will post some pictures of my EX later.

Wheel Spacers: Find out your bolt-pattern and look for 'hub-centric' spacers on eBay. Then pick your size. I feel like the brand is irrelevant, they're all coming from China on there (that's a personal opinion). I don't recommend anything wider than 1.5" for safety reasons. Less is preferable.

Body Lift: Lifts the body off the frame of the vehicle with hard poly-plastic 'pucks'. Can be done with a 3" Ford Ranger Kit, or cheaply 1.5" by buying 3" pucks alone and cutting them in half. There's a sticky for both.

Spacer (Suspension) Lift: Adds a short spacer (pipe with two flanges basically) to the top of your strut, which in turn pushes down further the wheels (raising the frame and body higher)

Other: Rancho Quick-Lifts (expensive but slightly longer struts), Coilovers (higher-quality suspension system, requires significant modification/fabrication, probably not in your immediate future)

Note: Body Lifts don't actually raise the clearance of your vehicle -- but they might give room for bigger tires which will.

There are stickies that have info on both the body lift and spacers. Just gotta sift through them. One day I hope to make a one-stop go-to explanation thread for all this info.

Thanks for the help.
I was looking at thishttp://www.ebay.com/itm/4pc-1-5-5x4-5-5-x-4-5-Wheel-Adapters-Ford-Explorer-Sport-Trac-38mm-Spacers-/330935571769?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AFord%7CModel%3AExplorer&vxp=mtr&hash=item4d0d4c1539 You seem somewhat skeptical of the safety of wheel spacers. Is this something that I should double think? My EX is driven quite a bit.
Also I was thinking about this http://traxda.com/ford-lift-and-leveling-kits/ford-explorer/02-05-ford-explorer-2wd-4wd-sport-trac-front-and-rear-lift-kit-102020.html#
Anyone got a picture of what and end result might look like these 2 mods done?

Again thanks for the help.

I have put 20k+ on my explorer with 2" hubcentric wheel spacers and have had no issues... and I jump mine regularly :)

As far as the leveling kit goes, there is a vendor here that sells a leveling kit for $250. That is the way you should go. There is a sticky thread with information on this.
