i know the coil-over question has been asked about 5000 times, but for my question i think it is a vehicle specific question..
my truck weighs in at 4300 pounds..
the sprung wieght of the truck is 3500 pounds(this is minus wheel/tire's and axles)
im to the point of my suspension i need to buy the c/o's to continue
im going to be running dual rate 16" travel remote resevoir c/o's
now i have checked numerous rate calculators and they all give diffrent results.
im not real sure, im going for max travel (not to worried about ride)
is a 250lb top spring and 350lb bottom spring okay? or is this gonna be way to compressed just sitting there. i will be running the same weights on all 4 corners as the truck is almost 50/50 weight distribution
thanks
max
sorry for a repeat question

that may be a little light of a spring rate, i feel that a #700 spring would be very good, some guys even run 800lb springs but that gets a little harsh as far as the ride goes

well in this case, he is running dual rate so spring rates will be different compared to my case (im running single rate 600 lb 12" springs). that seems to sound correct but what i would do is call king or fox and let them give you some input. theyre tuning experts so they all know what theyre talking about. you dont have any steel bumpers, winches, big boy motor swaps or anything do you? if not then i dont see why those numbers wont work but if you do you alway wanna go heavier. but like i said take it up with one of the big shock companies and im sure they will walk you through it.

Thanks for the input. Im actually running front and rear winches. Full steel bumpers and sliders. Full exo cage. Full interior cage. And about 600 pounds of other accessories.. Its a 99 ford ranger that weights 4500 lbs.
Thanks
Max

You may wanna bump up the spring rates because of all that weight. Like I said call a major shock company and I'm sure they can help you. Good luck man and when u get it done post some pics

If you're signature says what your truck has: straight axle swap up front? If so, those springrates are too high. 200 over 200 will leave you with approximately 8" of shock shaft at ride height. 250/350 will sit very high.

Hey Brandon, I'm looking to get a little bit more shaft out of mine it's somewhat low. Like 2" of shaft or so showing. If I get 750s it will stretch it out a bit more?

I'll assume youre on coilovers with stock lower arms? What rate is on there now? You might just be able to add preload to the coils. Just be careful that you cannot bind the coils at full bump.
