No, its no scam. But I do need some guinea pigs to confirm my results.
After I did this mod my brakes feel less stiff at the pedal and come on sooner. My issue of "runaway idle" is gone. In which, im in stop and go traffic and I tap the gas to get going but the vehicle goes further than it should causing you to need to ride the brakes right after. So far ive also seen better gas mileage. About .6-8mpg. Nothing spectacular but its something. And also that annoying deep moan from the intake is gone when i lightly accelerate.
So the mod is closing off the air vent line in front of the throttlebody that meets up with a valve of sorts that then goes to the back of the intake and brake booster.
Why I think this mod works and what its doing; if that valve goes bad then the vacuum from the intake isnt making it to the brake booster. Theres your hard brakes. Its allowing too much intake tube air past the throttlebody. Theres the "runnaway idle" and lower mpg. And also with the valve being bad its letting an air exchange happen at the wrong time. Theres the moaning noise on acceleration.
Can you guys try this mod out to see if it benefits you too?
I used a very small wire twist cap to block the air from leaving the intake tube. It was small enough that I could put the easy hose clip back into place. You can't even tell I did the mod as it looks unmodified. Im sure a person could use tape or something else creative to cap the hose clip end and nipple end but I wanted to make it easily reversible.
