Simple question. Ihave a 99 4.0 OHV w/ automatic tranny. There are two metal lines from the tranny to the radiator one on top and one on the bottom. Which is coming from the tranny, and which is the return line to the tranny? Thanks.

do you also have a tranny cooler? like if you have a tow package?

Nope.

That's why I want to add one.

actually, it doesnt matter which one... a cooler works no matter what way the flow is.... now if you want an external filter too that is another story

Summit has combo kit.

It's a cooler and filter in one kit. Only thing is it says it'll fit any car with a spin on filter. The X doesn't have that, does it. It only has that mesh type one in the pan, right?

I'll probably just buy themseparately and get the filter that others on this board have gotten.

Anyhow, which is from the tranny and which is back to the tranny?

Actually it usually does matter which way the cooler is installed. It is usually installed after the radiator trans cooler in series. I think the bottom line on the radiator is the return to the trans. To make sure try taking the line of and cranking the motor to see where the trans fluid comes out of. If it comes out of the radiator than it's the return to the trans.

Thanks.

It's been raining for three days straight (in the desert, nonetheless), so if it stops tomorrow, I'll try that.

The bottom line on the radiator is the return line. You want to splice into that one.

Thank you very much.

I'll right on it as soon as the rain stops. Day 4 of non-stop rain.
