Hi,
does anybody have any information on the upgraded JBL sound system that came with my 97 Explorer Eddie Bauer...any info like wattage of head unit, speakers, the subwoofer in the trunk....etc

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Here is some info from a previous post:

The jbl System has seven speakers. A four inch midrange and a one inch dome tweeter mounted on a plate in the front doors, full range speakers mounted in the rear doors, and a 6.5 inch "sub" mounted in the cargo area. As for power I think the amps are rated at 15 watts per channel for the door speakers and 80 watts for the sub, for a total of 140 watts for the system. Whether that's peak or RMS I don't know, but my guess would be peak (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

The descriptions are correct except for the power ratings. The parametrically equalized 4 channel amp puts out 4x15W @ <2%, and the SW amp is 1x85 @ <2%. So the total system power output is 145 Watts, RMS. The peak power rating for this system is 290 Watts.
