Has anyone out there rebuilt or had the 4.0 rebuilt recently? I am considering a full engine overhaul and wanted to know of some good resources for parts. I just want a general idea of how much this would cost.

I am about to get mine back here in about a week. I will let you know what it costs. I think its gonna be in the $1200-1500 range. Thats for a complete longblock.

Also just so you know a complete Jasper engine is just over $2600 with a 3 yr/100,000 mile warranty.:D

thanks for the info jd4242.

I rebuilt ours a couple years ago..

I bought a somewhat low mileage motor for $150 I think, then picked up a 2nd motor for more parts (free) trying to get a good set of heads.. didn't quite work out.

IIRC total cost for our rebuild for parts plus machine work (heads) was well under $1500. That includes all new sensors and other misc little things including a set of DeltaCam rocker arms and push rods. I could have done it without head work if I just bought a pair of complete heads for $500 or so.

We did not have the block bored etc. I just used a set of stones on it. I also did not replace the Cam or Cam bearings since I was rebuilding a lower mileage block.

I grabbed all my parts locally. Including a bad set of rebuilt heads from Bills Cylinder Head Exchange in Phoenix, Az. They didn't pressure test their heads before I got them and they sold me a set of cracked heads. Hence the extra cost in machine work (repair heads). Bill's will never get any business from me again (rant off :) )

Anyway.. Figure $1500 or so depending on what you have done..
