Are the second generation splash shields the same across 1995-2001 models?

The reason I ask is I can't find them for 1996 though Rock Auto has them for 1999 5.0 models. The 1999 V6 SOHC and OHV carry the same part numbers as well.

Yes all the same. Just go to the junk yard I got 2 pair for 3 dollars. One for my 01 mountaineer and one for my girlfriends 02 ranger.

I was going to say... 2nd Gen Explorer owners should get acquainted with scrap/junk yards. So many good parts to be had for cheap.

Ask me when the last time I even paid for brake pads was :D

*edit.. don't ask because I can't remember.

Junk yards are so fun for us 2nd Gen owners. As far as breaks go I will stick with brand new ones in the box.

With a little bit of searching at the scrap yard, it's easy to find new pads on some of the Explorers and save yourself like $50, but hey I'm a cheapy.

Hell that's where I got my gauge faceplates (change from the black to white ones on my 99 sport) and also the cruise control buttons for free, as well as a few other small trim pieces. ;)

RA had the nice heavy duty Inner Fender shields for my '98 4x. They also have the push connectors. Fit like a glove. I put new ones on when I did all my front end work.

Thanks for the replies.

I wish there were some junk yards around here but they ain't. Closest one is 40 miles that might have something I need, so unless something really bad happens or high dollar unit goes out, it ain't worth it to just go look.

They should be all the same '95-'01, but I can't swear to it. V8 or V6 doesn't matter. Only exception I've found is that some ST's come with a small rear piece only, but the holes are there for the full size guard. Call RA's 800 number and ask them.

My closest pick-a-part yard is 2½ miles away, although I have yet to visit it. I opt for driving 142 miles to one I used to go to in CO, and hit another one 50 miles on the way back home. For me, it's mostly just a day trip to get out of town...
