Hi all,
Running a 96 Aerostar in England. Had an advisory on the MOT test and need to replace a inner tie rod end. While doing this I'm going to do both inners, both outers and some brake stuff. Managed to get the inners and having looked in the package I have the expected component but also three 'pins' they look like pop rivets with no stalks. Anyone know how these are used?

Thanks and in hope of education

Jay

Welcome to this forum! Could you post a photo of these parts? The inner tie rods are going into the rack & pinion. The outer tie rods are screwed on with a lock nut to hold them in place once you have everything aligned. On a side note, I would like to see an interior photo with the steering wheel, dashboard gauges, and pedals on the opposite side of the American version. I've never seen the overseas version. On the American version, the sliding door is on the passenger's side.

Hi mate
I will get pics today hopefully. Sorry to disappoint you but it is an import and is lhd.

Here is the picture of the tie rod with the three pins. I'm thinking these are hammered into place when the tie rod end is tightened. I've not removed the old one and are concerned about removing these pins if they are present.

Thank you Jose
I've not seen these before, will let you know how it goes.

Job went very well. Thanks for all help. The pins were not present on my vehicle, although upon installation I've put one pin in each side . They locate into a machined groove on the rack arm. I will post pics later.
