On my 98 Explorer, the driver side power lock button does not work, but the power window buttons do, I am not sure if this has anything to do with that, but on my dash board, the e-brake(red light?), high beam(blue light?), and bottom section of gas gauge and bottom part of the speedometer lights (Green) do not work (but the top part of the dash board does and the check engine light, abs, airbag, seatbelt lights all work) the green lights where the knob is that turns on your headlights do not light up (3), the green lights above the knob that lights up the "Auto, 4x4xlow,4x4high " and also the rear wiper green lights do not work. The rear wiper does not work, but when you push the button in for water, that works. Also all the lights where the heat controls are all work. Could this all be on 1 rely switch ?? Anyone got any ideas where to start ??

The rear wiper motor assembly is notorious for getting moisture in the arm assembly and sticking. Turn your wiper on full and get out and give the wiper arm a little jiggle up and down and see if that breaks it loose. If not you can remove the wiper motor and try taking it apart. I replaced mine today. AutoZone had one in stock, $39.95 remanufactured with a "limited lifetime" warranty, meaning I get one free replacement if this one goes bad. Well, I got 11 years out of the OEM, maybe I'll get 11 more our of this one.

Thanks a lot ... it works now (That has not worked for a long time) !!! Any idea's about the light problem ??

Just keep an eye on the wiper. If it stops working again you will either need to (1) remove and clean it, or (2) replace it. Again, $39.95 with exchange at AutoZone.

As for the dash lights, they are all bulbs in the gauges. The instrument cluster is a bit of a PITA to remove, but it's the only way to replace the bulbs. I'm not sure about your "Auto, 4x4xlow,4x4high" as I don't have 4x4. I also don't remember the the lights about my headlight switch ever working, but I never paid them any attention either.

Your door locks can be tricky. It can either be the electronic locks themselves not working, or the linkages running from the door handle to the latch could be binding. The only way to tell is to remove the door panel and take a look.
