I searched the web for an hour and I couldn't find anything that gave instructions on how to put the crossbars on my explorer. I also couldn't find any pictures of the top of a Ford so I had to drive to the dealership and take some pictures. If you need help here is your answer: remove the rear plastic ends of the roof rack.. it's on with a tree plug so pull away it shouldn't break. The brackets have a slope to them..they install sloping toward the back with the tightening screw toward the front of the truck. The long plastic ends that look like the long end of a toothbrush go in the middle toward each other with the tightening screws in front. (the screws for the crossbars point down toward the roof) do this to each side.. when you're putting the plastic piece in you have to put pressure on the plastic stopper that is in the way (located under the rear plastic ends) or else you may crack the bracket. Also have the screw out as far as it goes to make it easier. After they are in unscrew the clamp screws and take the bracket piece off that will attach the crossbars. I did each bar separately to not get things mixed up. next screw the bars to the inner brackets (you will want to make sure they are pushed on pretty good or else you'll have too tight of a fit.) put the crossbars on the inside brackets and swing them down to lock them into place and tighten the screw clamps. take a screwdriver (or proper tool) and pop the yellow Christmas tree plug out of the ends and slide them into the only place they fit inside the rear plastic ends and pop the ends back on (top goes in first then swings down to lock in) I had a heck of a time trying to get it to lock into the yellow plug so that is where I thought of popping the tree out. Hope this helps at least one person out.. no thanks to Ford for any of their information.
