Do you guys insure your trucks? I am planning on buying a wheeling only rig this summer that I can just trash. I am just going to tow it to the trails and I don't think I need insurance on it if I'm not driving it on the road and stuff (besides, it will probably be under the wrench half the time) so I don't want to waste money insuring this. My mom is freaking out and saying I have to get it insured and stuff, she is a very ridiculous woman so I haven't really paid any attention to her, but my dad, who is a lawyer, affirms this and says I need to get at least liabilty on it - in case I roll  it with a friend in it or something. Does insurance even cover off-roading? Do you guys have your trucks insured? What's legal and not legal with this? Any input/suggestions/resources for me to look at is appreciated.

My advice to you is to get insurance if you can afford it. If you roll that thing and get hurt, or your passenger gets hurt, heaven forbid, it will cover you, plain and simple. Do what you can afford. Insurance is there for a reason, use it where you can.

There are a lot of trails in Florida that require you to have a tag, and in Florida, to get a tag you must have insurance.

Ive got liability on mine. Its only like $200 a year and worth it IMHO. Also, there could be a scenario were you would need to drive it on road a few miles to get fuel or parts. At least then you will have insurance on it if you get pulled over.
