Just a guess, but I would assume the V8 is going to cost more to insure. All other things being equal, though, get the V8 even if insurance is a little higher. Shouldn't be that much more. Gas difference might concern you more, though.

Insurance is going to be the same.

Just My 0.2 Cents , Do not Get The sohc , All ive Heard About Those 4.0s Is Not Good , That V8 Will last Much Longer With The Same Style Driving , I Guarantee It !
But Also Welcome To The Site And Update After Your Choice Is Made , Also There Is Alot Of Info Here , Just Need To Look And Ask , Good Luck !

Get the V8 5.0. It will cost you slightly more for fuel but you'll make up for it in reliability and power when you need it.

I owned a SOHC before and I'll never own another. Now I got a 99 Mountaineer 5.0 and it is running strong. It is so much easier to work on.

I have a 5.0 AWD Eddie Bauer, and I got quoted just at $100 a month, although I am 20, my insurance has not gone down. Also, could you possible go on your parents insurance?

The way my agent said it to me, is that kids, with big 4x4 SUV's, with V8, like to break, and crash them more, so you may be in a surprise, when you get quoted. as for the VINs, some car places actually post the VIN online, in their ads, check out some local dealers sights.

although I am 20, my insurance has not gone down.

It used to be more prevalent, but age 25 is the magic number to reach for a rate drop. But, the rate drops are nowhere as much as they used to be.
