I was thinking about having my upper and lower
intake manifold bored out and port & polished.
I just wanted to know if this will give me significant
increase in horse, or if it's not worth the money?

How much will it cost you?

I haven't really started pricing but poeple I know who
have done it to their cars tell anywhere from $200-$400.

4 liter or 5 liter?

I have the mini truck a bronco 2 it's a 2.9

My friend had his Bronco2 engine manifold ported and polished. He also had the block bored. His truck has good power, just from what I can tell by riding in it. For the money, you could do other mods first. Porting and polishing the intake is always a good thing, but You might consider other things first.

By the way if you do have it ported and polished, make sure it's a good port n polish job, not a bad one. In other words, don't just get someone to get a grinder in there and round it out; heck I could do that in my back yard. A professional port and polish is the way to go. If you have an aftermarket throttle body, have the upper intake port matched to the throttle body too.

I was thinking about doing that on my 4.0 OHV. I do have a BBK TB and the intake is a little small for my taste :D . Anyway, how much would it cost to have the engine bored and stroked as well? Probably big bucks huh? I'm betting that would turn my little 4.0 into a little powerhouse. Plus, it would be nice to have a polished intake...I HAVE to stop visiting this site-You guys give me way too many ideas!!!!!!!!!:p

I have been thinkin about it too. My friends formerly 2.9 liter Bronco II has some power; he had it bored .20 or .25 over (can't remember which) and intake ported and polished too.

Just remember if you do have it bored, you'll have to get your chip re-programmed to take full advantage of it, or you might get some driveability problems.

definately worth the money if you already have to take them off (engine rebuild, gaskets, etc.). the proper port and polish job will net more than chips and other small stuff. Not worth the money if you are taking them off for this.
