Anyone have the best method to clean build up from the upper and lower air intakes? Mine are not too bad, but seeing as I have them off to replace the gaskets, I figured what the hell. Also, there is not a single parts store that carries that damn EGR o- ring!

Are you talking about the black plastic intake plenum itself or the intake into the engine?
The plastic plenum can be cleaned with any non-petroleum based de-greaser. Purple Kaboom worked for me or probably Simple Green would do it also. Spray it on, let it set for a few minutes then use a rag or a toothbrush to get off any deposits. Just make sure to rinse it good and dry it well before re-installation.

I did not mess with the upper engine intake much as I was too scared to drop anything into it. I just wiped it reasonably clean with a rag.

carb cleaner and you need plenum intake set for the green egr oring

Thanks for the cleaning tips. The intake kit did not include the o
ring

I used Purple power to clean my intake and engine...

The aluminum did not like it for very long but it was filthy...The plastic upper didn't care and it just came clean...I only let the lower sit for 10-20 minutes tops.. The upper and lower I used a tub with 50% PP/50% hot water and a strong parts brush...

And both my Oreilly and Advance Auto show the EGR gasket but only one store actually carries it... Both of these were the warehouses and I called both this morning and they can get it to my local stores today... Not that I need one as I bought a dozen from the dealer years ago...It is Fel-Pro # Part # : 71202...

Good luck ....
