intake sensor questions

Hi,
I have a K&N Air filter (not stock) and it's got 2 small holes in it. One has a sensor going to it, the other was just an open hole. I thought that something else may go in there. The manual says something about an air pump connection. Please help, I got something blocking it for now, but I would like to know what it is supposed to go in there.

the filter has a sensor in it? or the airbox? i have no idea what you are talking about....if there are holes in your filter than replace it....

The filter doesn't have holes in it. I'll try to explain a little better. On my 95 explorer sport w/4.0l, (the K&N filtercharger kit that was installed before I bought it) the plastic air duct (between the air filter and the intake throttle body) has two connection points molded in the side for a sensor or some other connection. The MAF is after the filter, before the ducting. I haven't identified what the other sensor is, but it's connected to the connection pt closest to the throttle body side. The other one is toward the filter side. I hope this helps.

on my MAC there is only one hole but ive heard of them comming with 2. something about fuel injectors or something injectors for the second hole i think. try searching and maybe youll come up with something, i know ive read it before.

The only 2 items I can think of that would go there would be the intake air temp sensor and the input breather tube for the PCV valve system.

That's right.

IS your check engine light on? It should be if you are missing the IAT sensor from your intake tube.

No, there's no check engine light.

As long as the IAT sensor is plugged in, it won't set off the CEL. It will just read the temperature of the air where ever it happens to be which is well within the operating limits of the sensor. If it were unplugged it would set off the CEL (at least it will on an OBD-II equipped vehicle).

That is a breather hose that is part of the crank case ventalation system.
