Year, Model & Trim Level
2011 Ridgeline RTL
Hi Guys.

I've never owned a product from this manufacturer before (always been a Japanese import owner) and I currently drive a Ridgeline which has been acceptable as a SUT for me; except that I would like better styling.

While traveling I noticed an amazing looking Sport Trac and when I got closer I noticed it had Adrenalin badging on the tail-gate which was a trim level I did not even know existed. Yep, I was envious. I've been researching the vehicle some and I am seriously considering trading for one of these beauties, preferably a 2010 model... I do have a few questions though if any current owners can help me.

1. The Adrenalin trim does not include Home link garage door control integration?

2. I read something about an audiophile sound system option, is that available with the Adrenalin and what is the difference (how can you tell if it has this option)?

3,4,5. Answered. Thanks.

6. How is the reliability, would you buy again? Any known problems I should expect or look for at the dealership when purchasing one? (leaning towards the V8 since my current 3.5L V6 produces 250hp and I am often wishing it had a little more)

Thanks swshawaii, that did eliminate a few of my questions so I updated my original post. I left the questions that I'm still not certain about...

Here goes my replies as I do not own a STA yet, but learning a ton as I talk to people from all over, but for sure will it will be a matter of how much it costs, how many miles on the clock / true condition and the logistics to own / get it in your state.

1. The Home link is not standard but can be added, many fairly clean options > http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/index.php?threads/how-to-homelink-visor-install.182599/

To add to this fun, you can add turn signals to the side mirrors, they have kits to add those or even camera(s) that go on when you put your turn signals on. Some great benefits of buying a little more older then newer. The system can be bypassed to do what you want including interface with your Android and Apple devices, that is if you find the model with a factory nav unit already in place.

2. It's a 7 speaker system, which imho is great, prob sounds fine, it also has a sub, not sure of the true quality, but speakers are fairly easy to replace, you just need to match the specs your factory amp has, so it can have the power to drive them and like anything you can upgrade any sound system to make it sound even better.

The STA is a great little truck for sure, looks and drives great, and we only drove a STL, so deff try and find an V8 look for super well maintained, good report history and non rusted out under carriage. Costs are all over the board, that is for sure, some want $34K crazy money and others want $27K even if you match tit for tat / same for same.

Best of luck, just seen another Blue STA listed in MD but with 120k miles and they want $21,500 in my mind, with those miles it's worth $17-$18k tops. Plus 120k concerns me a little... that is allot of miles that I did not put on the truck myself.

6. Buy again, prob not as by the time I sell / trade the STA I'm going to buy the new Ford Ranger Limited, as it will be out and the STA will have very low value. Remember a loaded up STA was $40k in 2010 one I saw said $47k on the sticker with remote start, Just 6 years ago, that is the one I'm going after lol, so they will only go down in relative value and the miles will go up with the condition going down and the demand drops.

But I did call many Ford dealers and talked to the tech guys, they said get the V8, if I can find one, they have very little issues with that engine and it uses a timing chain as well. You can get 200k + on the engine with normal maintenance. One tech said he never seen an STA, just ST's so that says something, not many were made. In the end the STA is merely a body package and sub woofer and some logos. But it sure sure looks nice for a SUV that added 18 inches to the frame and cut off the back to make a SUT. BTW your Ridgeline if well maintained, low miles is highly sought after as well. Some sell around here for 25+k.

Honestly, there is a pretty good chance I am just going to get a newer Ridgeline instead (just made an offer on one).

Ridgeline? It's your decision, but that is one ****ing ugly and worthless pile of crap. In my Opinion. (LOL)

Wouldn't expect anything less from you. Are you just rude or always :drunk:?

lol. I definitely agree that the Sport Trac is a much better looking vehicle and I would love to buy one, but there are a ton of great deals on Ridgelines near me, but no Sport Tracs unfortunately.
