1997 Ford Explorer XLT
I needed to replace the heater blend door in my 1997 Explorer XLT so I pulled the dash assembly most of the way out to remove the heater box. I worked on it off & on for the last year and finally got around to finishing up the job. My problem is now my overhead console with the compass and outside temp gauge as well as the dome lights aren't working. The overhead lights don't come on when the door is opened nor do they work with the manual switches or when I turn the the dimmer to the on position. Anyone have any idea of where I left something unplugged? I read that the relay in the jack compartment might be bad but the lights don't work even with the manual switches. I pulled the dash cover off and found a connector unplugged but it was for the flashers.

I removed the steering coupler bolt and took the (6) dash bolts out and pulled the dash out enough to see that the main plug behind the dash on the drivers side was loose. Much easier pulling the dash this time. The first time I pulled it, I followed a Youtube video and the guy in the video did wayyy too much unnecessary stuff. Changed the blend door and heater core as well as install new ac compressor, dryer, valve etc, plugs wires, oil change and on & on. Lots of work to just hand the Explorer over to one of my kids :-)
