interior lights will not go off

01 explorer sport.
interior lights will not go off. i can shut them off by using the dimmer switch. but when the dimmer is turned back up the lights come on and will not cut off again till i turn the switch off.
any help on this. where to look . would be greatly appreceited.

Is your door ajar light on? If so, then thats why your lights would stay on. Easy fix is to try lubing up all of your door locks and working it in by opening and closing the door about ten times.

do a search on door ajar light on it may not be the switch but a pinched wire i believe it is the blasck with yellow stripe that gets pinched at least thats what happened on my 01 sport any common explorer problem ive had it lol but i still love my ex

That was it!!

The back glass was not shut completely. So when I shut it and heard it latch... the lights stayed on for the few seconds it ussally does and then went off.. thanks for the help.
