interior lights

i have a 92 explorer and when i open the door the interior lights dont go on is it like this from the factory or is there something iam missing ive turned the nob noting i can get the lights on and off with the nob but not by the door thanx?

It may be the little plunger button in the door jamb is stuck. Sometimes they get rusty dirty or bent and do not work properly. Does this happen for all the doors or just the driver's door? If the lights come on for the other doors and not for the drivers door that plunger button is where I would start.

The dome light has a switch with 3 positions. On all the time, off all the time and on with the doors open. Check out the switch.

My domelight dosent have a switch, however my plungers get frozen all the time durning winter. Check the plunger button thing, its inbetween the two hinges, and should be out when the door is open

yea my 92 doesnt have a switch i took the whol thing apart nothin also non of the doors work and the plungers are good also i would have thought it would have come with it 1 its not eb but its fully loaded and 2 it has 3 lights drivers passangers and center whats supposed to turn on with the door the rear light doesnt turn on with the doors open only with the switch any help my wife drives the truck especially at night i want her to see if anything is wrong with light it would help thanx

The light that comes on is the one in the ceiling just behind the front seats. Mine is a 93, I don't know if yours is different.

yea mine doesnt come on when i open the doors i know a certin fuses works not sure if its tied in but when the keys are in and the lights are on i here a beep beep so not sure how to get the lights on when i open the door

Hello All !
here's my little problem,

When i open the front doors, Dome light is lighting, but no doors light ! and when a switch on the Lights, and i open on of the front doors, i don't heard the "Ding Ding Ding" saying : Hey Guy !!! your lights are on !!!

I check all the fuses under the stear and in the hood, it seems everithing is OK !!!!

But i have no notice about the fuses, i'm peraphs wrong !

Please help me !

Yes i check the bulbs, but even if the bulbs are "out", it does'nt explain why i haven't the "ding ding ding" when the lights are on !!!

Peraphs you could tell me wich is the fuse i have to check, i don't find the information on the Owner Manual (wich is in german !)

The driver's door switch has two sections, one for the chime and one for the lights. Could be 1/2 the switch is bad. Does the chime ever work? It should chime when the lights are on and the door is open, the key is in and the door is open, and for a few sec when you start the car if your seatbelt is not buckled.

I think the chime is on the circuit with the rest of the interior stuff, including the lights and radio... but not sure.

But the switch is a brand new one, and i remember that when i drop the Car at the garagist last time, The man said me that he tut of the fuse because thgis switch was broken.
I check the two "fuses boxes" but it seems no fuse less !!

You perhaps could tell me wich is the fuse i really have to check !!
