Hi all,

I'm prepping my explorer for its yearly state inspection and noticed something a bit concerning- the rubber boot that goes around the intermediate shaft just above the rag joint/steering rack is split completely in two, letting air and water in to these sensitive parts.

I have searched everywhere for a replacement boot but it only leads me to the bellows for the rack itself. I cannot find the boot that fits around the steering column. Even Ford Parts doesn't have it listed, they do however have the entire shaft for $380... not something I want to replace so I want to get this boot fixed, Please if anyone knows where to find this let me know!

Thanks,

Brandon

I think that might be my only option, I have one close by, just wanted to avoid taking apart two columns if possible lol

Hooray! I found a boot at Auto Zone called a speedi boot part number 03670 that worked perfectly to replace the intermediate shaft boot. I didn't even have to cut it at all. The rubber was very pliable and stretched over the parts! I started at the small end and was able to get the rubber over all the parts! I never could find anything else to replace it. I am pleased!
