I have recently begun having problems where the rear-wiper will not turn on. I have discovered that occasionally, if I turn the switch on before I turn on the car, it will fix the problem. Other threads on this issue have said to try replacing the motor, and to check the ground, but this almost seams more like an electrical problem, not mechanical. Is it possible for the relays to go bad? Is there way to test the relays?

I am trying to avoid having to open up the door panel to get at the actual motor, but if thats what it takes, then I will.

I appreciate any help!

is it getting hooked on the rear window,, ??? mine does that ,,

It's possibly a relay, but not likely. The only way to know for sure is to check the power at the connector on the motor when it's not working, watching for power AND ground in both directions (up and down) while it's trying to cycle. I've found this easiest to check with a test light: Clip one wire on one of the two power pins, and touch the electrode to the other power pin. With the switch set to high, you should have power almost all the time (with a brief flicker when it changes direction). If you only have a light on half the time, you likely have a bad relay or bad ground path. It'd take a bit more poking and prodding to figure out which one it is.

It does not appear to be getting hooked in the window, because I have pulled it out so it wasn't stuck and it still doesn't work.

Okay, I will have to check the panel off and check the electrical on that side. Thank you for the help!

Mine does that too. When I turn the rear wipers on i have to walk to the back of the vehicle and pull the arm up. It works fine after that.

Any ideas?
